Bareilly: A 14-member delegation of the Samajwadi Party (SP) will visit Bareilly today. The team is going to take stock of the recent incidents of violence and police action in the district. Formed on the instructions of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, the delegation will be led by Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey. The

delegation includes several prominent SP MPs and former MLAs. These include MP Harendra Malik from Muzaffarnagar, Iqra Hasan from Kairana, Ziaur Rahman Barq from Sambhal, Mohibullah Nadvi from Rampur, Neeraj Maurya, former MP Virpal Singh Yadav, Praveen Singh Aron and others.

Police Crackdown In Bareilly Violence

The team's primary objective is to investigate the incidents that occurred on September 26th when the Muslim community attempted to peacefully submit a memorandum to the District Magistrate after Friday prayers. The SP alleges that the police and PAC brutally lathi-charged innocent people, seriously injuring several. Furthermore, 81 people were jailed, four marriage halls were seized, several houses and shops were demolished with bulldozers, and three people were arrested after an encounter.

Delegation Meets Victims Families

The delegation will meet with the affected families to hear their grievances and demand justice from the Bareilly DIG and Commissioner. After the visit, the team will submit its report to the state office, based on which the party will decide its future strategy. Previously, Congress MP Imran Masood and SP MLA Shahnawaz Khan were prevented from entering Bareilly. SP State President Shyam Lal Pal issued a letter informing them of this, citing Akhilesh Yadav's instructions.

Administration Imposes Strict Curbs

Meanwhile, the Bareilly administration is on high alert. A heavy police force has been deployed, and internet services are banned from October 2nd to 4th to prevent the spread of rumors. The administration has clarified that no political activity will be permitted under the current circumstances.

Political Uproar In Uttar Pradesh

This visit has sparked a political uproar in Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party is calling it an attempt to raise the voice of the victims, while the administration is insisting on maintaining peace. Following the violence sparked by the "I Love Muhammad" controversy in Bareilly, the district remains sensitive, with heavy security forces deployed and drone surveillance underway.
